About Me
I am a life-long learner and am passionate about education, learning, and communications.
Critical thinking skills are a common denominator across my work and academic experiences. As artificial intelligence agents continue to increase in importance I believe that responsible use of AI to maintain bias-free content will continue to require human-centered analysis and review. It is also critical to stay informed of ongoing and ever-changing developments in AI and the impact of new AI models on education.
I have a Master of Education (MEd) in Curriculum and Pedagogy from the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) with specializations in Digital Technologies in Education; and Comparative, International and Development Education.
I understand instructional design models like ADDIE, SAM, and backward design, as well as the application of learning theories to achieve course objectives. Ensuring that courses meet Universal Design for Learning and WCAG 2 accessibility criteria are also important considerations for me.
Previously, I was a Communications Consultant with the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) where I led the publications process for reports, coordinating projects from beginning to end. This involved collaborating with external vendors as well as internal subject matter experts to ensure both content accuracy as well as a consistent look and feel aligned with our brand. I wrote educational pieces for wide dissemination, edited technical papers for clarity and syntax, and managed the organization’s social media, writing posts and designing engaging visualizations.
In addition, I am a long-time volunteer with the 60 Million Girls Foundation, a non-profit focused on supporting education for girls, globally. I am a part of our communications and grant evaluation teams. In my communications capacity, I liaise with our partners and I develop materials for partner and donor outreach. Last year, I organized a workshop at the Comparative and International Education Society conference in Chicago, designing all outreach and coordinating content and presentation delivery with our partners. The Foundation supports education projects with grants valued at $200-$300K, annually. I analyze proposal submissions and ensure that project objectives and budget align with our mission in search of holistic approaches to improve learning outcomes.

A few personal notes….
Originally from Montreal (Canada), I have lived in Charlotte, North Carolina since 2016. On weekends I like to explore areas around the Blue Ridge Mountains, hiking the trails and visiting the mountain towns (Blowing Rock is a favorite!).
I have recently taken up paddle boarding in the waterways around Charlotte in search of some respite from the North Carolina summer heat. My Labradoodle, Lexie, enjoys the water as well. Last winter, my son and I travelled a bit further afield, hiking in Sedona and the Grand Canyon — I tried my best to keep up with him on the trails.
I love reading and you can often find me with a book in hand. A recent favourite is “The Worlds I See: Curiosity, Exploration, and Discovery at the Dawn of AI” by Fei Fei Li. The book describes her experience as an immigrant in the United States and her role in a developing AI. She is passionate about keeping AI human-centered.
Feel free to explore my blog on a few of my favorite reads.
